Leica M 50mm f1.4

A good friend of mine was having a manual full analogous Leica M camera. Therefore he had lenses like the Leica M 35mm f2, 90mm f2 and the 50mm f1.4.

In this post, I am going to talk about the pros and cons of the Leica M 50mm f1.4.

This lens is one beautiful but also hard to handle lens. It is getting traded for about 3000$ on the market. But I got one of the older versions of the Leica M 50mm f1.4.

At first, I have to say, this lens is creating the biggest bokeh balls I have seen so far wide open. And there’s the first problem about this lens. Wide open it’s pretty hard to get crispy good photos because it’s creating some fog.

As you can see in the images bellow, this lens is sometimes pretty useless at f1.4, therefore I was mostly using this lens at f2 or f2.8 to shoot images with.

I was mainly using this lens for portraits as this is like a telephoto portrait lens for the MFT system.

I’m really happy sharing my experience with you, so keep in and check out these images taken with the Lumix G85 and the Leica M 50mm f1.4.

Leica M 35mm f2.0 and 90mm f2.0

Yesterday I got 2 other lenses I am going to test for you guys. This time I received the Leica M 35mm f2.0 and the 90mm f2.0. Both are comparable to Zeiss optics.

As you may know, I am currently shooting with my Lumix Leica 45mm f2.8 Macro and Lumix Leica 100-400mm lens. Thankfully a good friend of mine is using the same camera mount as me.  Therefore I am able to test out his old Olympus OM and Leica M lenses as well as his new Olympus M4/3 lenses.

This time I am going for two of his Leica M lenses. Yesterday I have started to shoot some portraits with them. And the bokeh they create Is fantastic. What I can say so far is, that there is no chromatic aberration visible wide open at f2.0 but let’s get a closer review the next time.

I am really happy to share my experience with you, about this expensive lenses.

The next following weeks I will show you some unique pictures I have taken with the Leica M lenses mounted on my Lumix G85 with a Leica M to M4/3 converter.

EDIT: As I told you some pictures I have taken with the Leia M 35mm and 90mm
