Leica M 35mm f2.0 and 90mm f2.0

Yesterday I got 2 other lenses I am going to test for you guys. This time I received the Leica M 35mm f2.0 and the 90mm f2.0. Both are comparable to Zeiss optics.

As you may know, I am currently shooting with my Lumix Leica 45mm f2.8 Macro and Lumix Leica 100-400mm lens. Thankfully a good friend of mine is using the same camera mount as me.  Therefore I am able to test out his old Olympus OM and Leica M lenses as well as his new Olympus M4/3 lenses.

This time I am going for two of his Leica M lenses. Yesterday I have started to shoot some portraits with them. And the bokeh they create Is fantastic. What I can say so far is, that there is no chromatic aberration visible wide open at f2.0 but let’s get a closer review the next time.

I am really happy to share my experience with you, about this expensive lenses.

The next following weeks I will show you some unique pictures I have taken with the Leica M lenses mounted on my Lumix G85 with a Leica M to M4/3 converter.

EDIT: As I told you some pictures I have taken with the Leia M 35mm and 90mm

Olympus OM 180mm f2.8 and the 18mm f3.5

I recently was able to test the old OM 180mm f2.8 and the 18mm f3.5 lenses from Olympus. I attached them to a normal OM to M4/3 converter.

Olympus OM 180mm f2.8:

The Olympus OM 180mm f2.8 is a nice telephoto lens to release your subject from the background. Another big advantage of this wide open aperture is that you’re able to shoot in situations with less light, without having a stabilization, if you don’t have IBIS. Incidentally, the lens is perfect for taking pictures in the theatre.

One big disadvantage of this lens is the chromatic aberration wide open and its sharpness. In the attachment, you find some pictures I have taken with this lens.

Olympus OM 18mm f3.5:

At first, I thought this is no special lens. 18mm is no big wide angle and not supposed to be a portrait lens. An aperture of f3.5 isn’t that good as well. But seriously this lens is perfect for close-ups. For those people that love lens flare, a suitable lens. Even at low light, wide open and IBIS this lens is perfect for low light situations. The colours created with this lens are gorgeous. A lens I would recommend for close-up portraits. Its sharp, nice for releasing the subject if you shoot close. A lens I would recommend others.
